Building Simple Websites – Microsoft

Having an email address and having a cell phone number is very common these days. These two things are our identities in today’s technology world. When it comes to a level higher, i.e. having something of my own on this world wide web, then its as simple as having own website. Having a blog is not so great today. Anyone can go to any service provider and start his/her blog, a group blog. But making a website is still not so common.

If some is starting his/her own small business, then having a website is like to reaching to the everyone on the worldwide web. I also thought to have my own website if start something on my own. So I started searching for simple solutions. I am a very common man having no coding skills. So I need something like editing a word document. Finally I got 2 solutions. Initially it was only one called “Google Pages” which is renamed to Google Sites now. But recently I explored that Microsoft also started its such service called Microsoft Office Live Small Business.

This gives you a free access to create your own website with a lot of features. I started exploring it and created my first site on Microsoft platform. Visit Kulkarni Consultants to have a first look. I would like to know your suggestions and feedbacks. I am exploring Google Sites too.

Till then happy surfing.

Thanks and Regards

CRM

It seems I am travelling in opposite direction. When it comes to business application for a product based organization, then PLM is the right solution. After working few years in PLM, now I am exploring other branches of Business Applications. CRM is one of them. I do understand that many organization do need its sales and marketing team well organized and CRM plays a great role here.

In last few days, I came across various CRM tools. There are Sugar CRM, Freedom CRM, Zoho CRM. I am still exploring many more tools. If any one of you know any such tools let me know. 🙂 After all I am going to be a key business player. hahahaha….

PLM and ERP – Best Friends

Many times I get confused when people start talking about PLM and ERP as competitors. I personally feel that those are best friends rather than competitors. If we look from PLM point of view, its a data source for a product and when we look from ERP point of view its a tool for product planning and manufacturing tool.

Till now, We were using CAD, then PDM and now PLM to manage our product data and its lifecycle. But if we release a product for production, then its manufacturing planning and management is equally important. Now, when we think of friends, they are the people who are always ready to help us with their helping hand. If we think that PLM and ERP need help each other’s helping hand to make a product as a successful and profit making product, then we should think them together as best friends who support each other where they are lagging. What do you think?

PLM Consultancy – Any Future?

In current market condition when most of the people losing their jobs, the key question is how to regain the position? People working in PLM Functional Role are facing a tough situation. There are no new project or onsite assignments. What to do in such case?

One option that comes to my mind is starting one’s own PLM Consultancy. But does it have any future? Does any organization need such consultant? Is it a better ideas of companies to hire such consultants on contract basis? What is the future for PLM Consultants?

PLM and India

When I think about PLM and India, there are many thoughts come to my mind. I wish to share it with all…

PLM Development and India
Many of us know that India is development centre for many software products including Microsoft products. India is really one of the most respected name in software industry. Not only because of the cost advantage but also for creative solutions for product designers. But when we think on the same line for PLM Products, I come across very few names in Indian companies which are development partners for PLM OEMs.
PLM itself is a huge field and there is huge scope for creative solutions to be generated. Those Indians, interested in product development should come forward and start developing small but supportive products for PLMs.

PLM and Implementations in India
There are few Indian OEMs which use PLM like TATA Motors, Mahindra and Mahindra, Bajaj Auto. But scope of PLM in India is limited to such big size industries only. Oh yes, there are certain implementation in middle level companies but most of these are MNCs and hence do not have a driver of PLM Implementation. May be Indians do not have their own products is the key issue. There might be a case that Indians do not have products to sell at global market. But there are products which are designed and sold for domestic market. We should encourage all these companies to use PLM. It has a huge scope. But there is a obstacle for it. PLM Licensing cost. All PPLM OEMs  and /or Open Source PLMs should think of this market and come up with a lost cost but effective product.

I wish that one fine day, India will need large amount of skilled PLM Professionals.

Demand and Supply

hey hey…

Don’t worry. I am not going to bore you all with with typical commerce principles of Demand and Supply. But this time I am just sharing my experience in Job Market.

In past, I mean 2-3 years back, IT industry in India was in boom. Everybody wanted a resource to bill his/her client. So it as sellers market. You just tell somebody that I know these technologies. And you are inn… Now billing starts and you get busy. Your employer gets busy with counting your billable hours and get payment from client.

One fine day client becomes a victim of recession, which is expected at his end. But your employer wanted you to bill till you can. He/she never thought of your weaknesses and provide you training. Simply because your billing hours cannot be spared and you are high billable resource. Suddenly he calls you and tells you that I am unable to pay your salary and you are requested to go back home. So you have no other option than to listen to him/her. You keep on expecting that one fine day he/she will call me back and

keep hope for the same.

Now the market is buyer’s market. Buyer still needs resources, but this time he is recruiting low cost and low quality resources. You are no more required in market due to your buying cost. Even if you lower your buying cost, he/she is not ready to buy your services thinking that same situation may come again and/or you may not be trustworthy.

Demand and Supply are playing their own game. But you are the only resource which is always at loss as they are winners and industry does not need losers.

I hope you are not victim of Demand and Supply Chain.
